Replacement Hoe Handles
The information on this page relates to replacing handles for "Easy Digging" brand grub, grape, and pointed hoes. Also for our Chillington fork hoe.
If you have another brand or style of eye hoe head, we do not claim our wedged handles will work properly with that head. The large metal wedge we supply was designed to match the taper inside the socket of our tools. Some other brands have much larger tapers.
We also can not verify the accuracy of your measurements, therefore we do not guarantee replacement handles to fit.

If you want a handle for a tool you already own, then you need to tell us the diameter...
How to find the Diameter

Figure 1.
- Some of our tools have the diameter printed on the handle.
(see Figure 1) - Measure the handle or the tool socket with calipers.
(shown below) - Estimate the diameter using the "tape and ruler" method.
(shown below)
Handles are sold by diameter at the bottom of this page.
Find the Diameter using Calipers
* Handles are only for round socket tools - not oval or rectangular sockets.
** For tools with flared handles, remove the handle and measure only the socket.
*** If your socket measures larger than our handles, then they will not work for you.
For our brand handles:
Measure the diameter of the shaft a bit away from slit.

For Round socket tools:
Measure the diameter of the small end of the socket.

For Wing socket tools:
Measure the diameter between the wings or ears.

We sell handles with the following diameters: 1.370 , 1.390 , 1.410 , and 1.430 inches.
If your measured diameter is between two sizes, choose the smaller handle. For example, if you measure 1.400 then choose a 1.390 handle.

Find the Diameter using Tape Method
How to find the handle diameter by measuring with a ruler and masking tape...
* This method ONLY for straight shafted handles - those that are the same diameter all along the length, like dowels.
1. Wrap two layers of masking tape straight around the handle.

2. Cut straight across the tape. Peel the tape all off in one piece.

3. Measure the length. Starting at the 1" mark gives best accuracy.

Use this list to convert your length to diameter...
4-3/8" is 1.370 diameter4-7/16" is 1.390 diameter4-1/2" is 1.410 diameter4-9/16" is 1.430 diameter
* Remember that if you start at 1" on the ruler, all the measurements will read 1" higher. For example, a 4-3/8" piece will read as 5-3/8"
If your length measures between two marks, choose the smaller measurement. For example, if you measure between 4-1/2" and 4-9/16" then choose 4-1/2" for a 1.410 handle.
