Wheel hoes are an incredibly useful tool for anyone who has a medium or large garden. They make garden maintenance easier and faster without putting too much strain on the user's body. With its versatile design, a wheel hoe can be equipped with various attachments that enable it to perform different tasks.
This article will list and show the attachments for the Glaser, the Hoss, the Valley Oak, and the Terrateck wheel hoes. All of these brands have attachments for the three common tasks of cultivating, weeding, and plowing. Some of them have additional specialty attachments.
Also see our Wheel Hoe FAQ page for answers to a wider variety of questions.
Cultivator Attachments:
These attachments work by loosening the soil, to promote aeration and strong root development of the plants. Cultivating attachments also can be used for some weed removal.
Weeder Attachments:
Most weeding attachments are designed to cut or drag loose the weed shallowly, in the top layer of soil. This leaves the structure of the soil healthy and unaffected.
Plow Attachments:
All of these attachments move soil by digging down and pushing or rolling the soil upwards and to the side or sides.
Specialty Attachments:
These attachments don't fit in the common categories. They are usually for very specific jobs, like laying drip tape.
Glaser Wheel Hoe Attachments
It only has the basic collection of attachments (cultivator, hoe, and plow). Although that is all that is really needed, it would be nice to be able to do even more with such a costly machine.
Some of the old Planet Jr attachments and new Hoss attachments can be used on it, but not all, so be sure to check first.

Hoss Wheel Hoe Attachments
It is an accurate copy of the classic Planet Jr model from the early 1900's, with modern bushings and fasteners. Some of the old Planet Jr and new Glaser attachments can be used with it.
This is the only wheel hoe with individual cultivator teeth. This flexiblity is valuable for adapting to soil conditions and weed conditions. All the attachments connect with 3/8" carriage bolts, so only a common 9/16" wrench is needed to swap tools.

Valley Oak Wheel Hoe Attachments
The Valley Oak design kept the basic small-wheeled wheel hoe geometry of the other wheel hoes, but opted for a different method of attaching the tools.
Their attachments slip over a long 20mm square bar that extends back from frame, and are held in place with a pin and clip for tool-free attachment changes.

Terrateck Wheel Hoe Attachments
Their collection of attachments is large, and they have brought some new things to the US. They were the first to fit spring wire weeders and rotating Finger Weeders to a wheel hoe.
The Terrateck design is different from all the others. Their attachments have a vertical bar that points upward and fits into a socket at the back of the frame. This lets you select the height of the tool.

Will these attachments fit other brands?
The Glaser and the Hoss are the best at sharing attachments. But not everything interchanges so you may need to experiment or do more online research. They can both also use some of the antique Planet Jr attachments that can be found at flea markets or on sites like eBay.
The Valley Oak and the Terrateck both use totally unique mounting systems, so nothing interchanges with them.
