Why is this shovel better?

It's better because it's stronger, because it is designed properly, and because it will last much longer than hardware store shovels. Made in the USA for the construction & landscaping industry.

A shovel built this way will last a long time. You can safely do a little prying with it to get out those roots and rocks (just don't go crazy, that is what pry bars are for). You can leave it in the back of your truck all year, and it won't rot like a wooden handled shovel. The kind of use and abuse that will destroy half a dozen inexpensive wooden hardware store shovels will barely scratch this tool.

What is a Digging Shovel used for?

Digging - This round-point digger shovel is the type most commonly used in the US. The pointed tip works well for breaking hard soils, as well as cutting through sod. (Tip: file the blade sharp) And the dish in the blade allows a good amount of soil to be lifted from a hole. For digging a narrow shallow trench for drainage or utility lines, our SharpShooter shovel (drain spade) is a better choice.

Scooping - The round point combination shovel can also effectively move piles of loose material (soil, gravel, mulch) to a new area or into a wheelbarrow. It is fairly easy to plunge into a pile, and the blade-to-handle angle (medium lift) reduces bending while shoveling. But for scooping lots of loose material, or scraping it up from a flat surface (pavement, truck bed, etc), our square-point scoop shovel is a better choice because of the straight head design and the higher handle angle reduces bending over.

Shovel Specifications

The 9" wide hollow-back blade (shovel head) is formed from one piece of thick 14 gauge carbon steel. It features rolled back steps for secure contact with your foot. The professional grade handle has a thick fiberglass outer tube, with a solid fiberglass core in the critical lower area where head and handle connect.

Benefits of Fiberglass Handles...

Why Buy From Us?

Our philosophy here it Easy Digging is super straightforward. To deliver unique and easy-to-use tools that you will not find in local big box stores.

We call that the "Easy Digging Difference"

Is this tool the same as Combination Shovel?

Yes, it is. The other name for it is a Round-point Shovel. It is called that because the design is a combination (or blend, or compromise) half way between garden spade and scoop shovel. It does both OK, though not quite as well as the dedicated spade cuts the soil, or as the dedicated scoop moves material. But if you are going to have ONLY ONE really good shovel digger combo, then this is the one to buy.
