I ordered the 6" grub hoe mainly to remove soil around our two sides of our old vertical log house, so the ground slopes away from the house and the water from the steel roof flows away from it instead of towards it. The grub hoe seems well-made and works great. Much more efficient than just a shovel. Wish I had had it when I was digging garden beds in our gravely soil years ago. The snow is starting to accumulate now but I'll get lots more use out of it next spring. Thanks!

Two sizes of grub hoes

I ordered the grub hoe. When USPS delivered, the handle was missing. I called customer service and left a message. Within an hour I received a call back and a replacement handle was on its way. I followed the instructions to easily attach the hoe to the handle. I'm using the hoe to remove existing grass / weeds and prep my small backyard for sod installation. With a little practice it does work like a hand operated roto-tiller. Great product and great customer service at Easy Digging. I recommend.

Well made worth the money. Grub hoe is nice and hefty and the long handle gives good leverage for efficient soil churn.

Was looking for a grub hoe. Found several suppliers online. The 6-inch version from EasyDigging seemed to be the best match for a solid, long-lasting, durable, and larger grub hoe. At this point I have only used the hoe to do benching during trail maintenance for the Licking Park District. I let the Volunteer Coordinator use the tool, and she was thrilled with it. I highly recommend this tool from EasyDigging. I am looking forward to future trail benching and trenching projects.

Good grub hoes, it would be better if they had come with the edge started instead of an hour to get them ready for use. I like the hoes and they work well in the field. Good balance and the cut off plants easily.

Trenching Hoe

The grub hoe and grape hoe are equally amazing to use. Makes short work in the garden bed!

The quality of these products are great. I ordered a grub hoe and a spade. The hoe is my favorite, it replaced those old cruddy ones that were poorly maintained that I was using. It's a heavy head, but it makes short work of weeding and breaking up new beds. It doesn't take long to sharpen and it holds a nice edge. I was missing the aluminum wedge which secures the head, but customer service was good and quickly sent the piece I needed.

Received the product on time. The 6 inch grub hoe works great, it actually is easy to dig with compared to another hoe i have but is not as wide. I used it to dig a trench to lay down rigid pipe for rain water diversion and was very happy with how quickly i was able to do it. The width is also perfect for the 4 inch pipe. Highly recommended if you plan on digging trenches or any other landscape work requiring digging.

Very awesome products. I bought a broad fork, a grape hoe and a grub hoe. They are already being used and I couldn't be happier with the products and service. Thank you!

Everybody should own this tool. Now that I own the Grub hoe, when I see people use a standard shovel or hoe to dig I feel sorry for them. It makes me what to grab my Grub hoe and give them a demo of the tool. Clearing weed filled beds is a breeze. You just have to lightly dig to remove the weeds. The construction of the tool is first. I know I'm pouring it on thick right now with the compliments, but this is something you will want to have in your collection forever. P.S., believe me or don't believe me, that's up to you. I never review anything. This is the first review of a product or tool I have given in over a decade.

Grub hoe or Azada digging action

I have a large backyard redo and saw Youtube videos about the grub hoe and ordered it. I would have given 0 stars for delivery time because US Postal Service sat on the package for two weeks, but that is not the fault of Easy Digging and Greg was quick to ship another hoe as soon as I requested it, so I give 5 stars. The real bonus with this purchase was a discussion I had with Greg B. when I called to report the missing package. He talked to me for 30 minutes about some gardening decisions I was struggling with and gave great insight that changed the course of my project! The grub hoe is great but Greg's willingness to chat with me is priceless. Great customer service!!!!

I already bought the 6" grub hoe and decided to go back for the 4 incher. To get free shipping I also bought a long handle spade. The spade is heavier duty than I think I really needed, but will probably last a lifetime. I was really excited about the 4" grub hoe, and it is a great tool. However I don't regret the 6" hoe at all, because when it comes to hacking through tough earth, roots, etc., the extra 50% weight of the big hoe makes a big difference. I also asked customer service about special ordering a post hole digger, but that kind of petered out.

Lubbin my grubbin hoe! This grub hoe is just the tool for clearing out tough weeds and small brush. Remember to get a file and keep your hoe sharp, it's too much like work using a dull tool. Found out about this company and tools from David the Good's You Tube channel. Next on my wish list are the grape hoe and the pointed hoe.

This grub hoe is exactly the right tool for the job, in my case removing the extremely tough Bermuda grass from my yard. Heavy duty, it makes short work of sod busting. Highly recommend.

Man using a grub hoe with good ergonomic posture

I purchased both the grape hoe and the 6" grub hoe at different times. They are both well suited to their specific purposes and a pleasure to use, allowing you to stand comfortably and easily control the tool while applying force and sharp edges to get the job done. I expect to get many years life from these simple, sturdy tools. I also purchased a sharpening file and recommend it for keeping the tools in top condition. It works quickly.

I am very pleased with the utility and quality of the grub hoe, grape hoe, and sharpening file that I purchased. Information on the internet site was extensive, accurate, and very helpful. Shipping was reasonable and fast, which is notable and appreciated these days. The tool quality was outstanding. Two minor qualifications on the tool quality: the hoe handles could have been finished better - i.e, sanded smooth without varnish. That was the first thing that I did when I received them - sanded and treated with Linseed oil. Second, an initial, but not sharp, edge could have been put on the hoe blades just as a guide for further sharpening. Such an edge would have saved me time and given me more confidence with my additional sharpening. However, I was greatly pleased, even surprised, at how easily and quickly my major weeding was accomplished with the Easy-Digging hoes. Thank you!

This company has a great product and did a superb job of processing my order and quickly shipping it to me. I was excited to use the product and it did not disappoint. Now I look for projects around my property so that I can use my grub and grape hoes. Its actually better than advertised and I one of my neighbors took one look at me using it and ordered one for himself. You absolutely will not be disappointed with the quality and value of these hoes. They are great!!!!

Picked up a grub hoe from easydigging. Easy order and quick delivery. Used the grub hoe to rip up a significant area of sod in my yard. The hoe is nicely weighted and cuts through the bermudagrass roots easily. Without this tool, probably would have needed power tools like a sod cutter. Thanks easydigging for a quality product.

The EasyDigging 4" grub hoe is an extremely well built garden tool! Well finished hardwood handle, heavy duty cast iron head, well made and easy to install wedge and it also comes with a very good set of instructions that make assembly a painless, 2 minute task. My garden plot happens to be very dense clay and the grub hoe is very useful for tilling the surface and hacking out weeds without disturbing my vegetable plants.

Love my 4 inch grub hoe. It's sturdy, sharp, feels heavy and real, works great. There was a little problem with the delivery, but as soon as Easy Digging got their supply stocked I got my tool. I think it was a bit pricey but if you are in a need of a tool that you'll use a lot it's well worthed. Recommend Easy Digging to all!

I ordered two tools, the heavy triangular hoe, which was GREAT. It was solid, heavy, and super-sharp, and is one of my favorite tools. The other was a grub hoe, which was also solid and heavy--built to last a lifetime. However, it was not sharp; in fact the end was so blunt that it's going to take massive work to sharpen it. Just using a file will require hours of work (which I haven't done yet). Once it's sharpened, I imagine that it will be as wonderful as the triangular one.

I was looking for a tool to help me remove all of the grass in my backyard. I saw the grub hoe on you tube and thought it would be perfect with a little work. I found that Easy Digging was the only company who carried it and they were almost out. I placed the order and got it by the end of the week. It was a lot of work but the Grub Hoe was perfect for the job with the right amount of weight. Two full truckloads of grass after a week of 'chipping' and the job was complete. Great service.

I have wanted a grub hoe for years but could not find just the right one until I found out about easy digging. Just for the record I love this tool. It is built like a tank or as I say bulletproof. The very first day I received it I put it to the test. In short order and without working myself to death I was able to dig a drainage ditch about six inches deep and 150 feet long. I am a man that is not afraid of a shovel so when I say it would have taken me four times longer to do this job with a shovel is no exaggeration. The old adage of where have you been all my life applies here I would say to anybody that has any reason to dig anything you need this tool. I regret not having it in my arsenal of dirt moving tools until now.

My grub hoe and spade are fantastic. They are great quality and have helped me remove sod with ease. I am not an experienced gardener and removing sod always seemed to make my winter dreams of landscaping die down quickly in the spring and I never got as much done as I would have liked. With these two tools I have been able to get so much done with so much less effort. I had never realized how dull the blades of big box store tools and their inferior quality had been stunting my abilities. Now I happily turn on my music and chip away at the unnecessary sod to put in veg gardens and flowers for the wildlife.

I have to admit I have been on the search for a pair of good hoes for a while. I bought the grape hoe and the grubbing hoe. The grape hoe is excellent for weeding large areas. The grubbing hoe is great for trenching and also taking grass out of areas. Unfortunately ups delivered the package open and the file I also ordered wasn't there. I contacted Greg at Easydigging, and he resolved the issue by shipping a replacement. I am very happy with the hoes, and I plan to purchase more products from easydigging in the future.

Since my husband and I are self-isolating and I wanted a project, I decided to extend my perennial bed. My 4" Grub Hoe was just the thing - small enough to get into some tight corners, and tough enough to grub out stubborn growth. I've also used it in my vegetable garden to turn the soil. It's a well-made tool, shipped quickly, and overall I'm very pleased with my easydigging.com experience.

Thank you for the high quality tools. We just did a lot of tree planting. The grub hoe we got easily cut through the roots in the ground and was easier to use then a shovel in preparing the holes for the trees. The SharpShooter shovel made short order of a job of digging a trench under a shed to run plumbing pipes. Thank you again.

I was looking for a sturdy garden hoe for my red clay plus rocks garden. I needed to brake new flower and vegetable beds and dig a couple of drainage ditches. I looked at Home Depot and Lowe's stores - the hoes were somewhat flimsy and I new they would brake in my garden pretty soon. I purchased a 6" Grub Hoe w/ handle and Large Pointed Hoe w/ handle after watching several very good reviews and how-to on YouTube. It was the easiest purchase in my life! Excellent customer service and fantastic product; delivery was very quick. Both hoes were very easy to assemble. I used them almost every days for the last 3 weeks and what a great job they do! Both hoes have a long wooden handle and a nice sharp heavy duty metal blade - I can cut through any soil with ease. Highly recommend this product.

I ordered from easydigging.com because Greg emphasizes tools and techniques that are easy on the body. There are competitors that brag about how long their tools last. But Greg tells you how to make your body last. I ordered a grape hoe for chopping weeds and a grub hoe for digging. I have not had jobs to do that required me to use them much yet. They look well made and I expect them to last a long time. I followed the directions carefully. You mount the heads of the hoes differently from how you mount the heads of striking tools, but the simple way he says to do it works. I emailed Greg to ask how to dig up bushes. He told me how and what tool to buy, even though he didn't sell the tool himself and couldn't make any money on it. I plan to buy from Greg again regardless if he is the cheapest, because deserves something for sharing his knowledge.

We are removing some old lawn and putting in stepping stones and surrounding ground cover. Our soil here in Nevada has a lot of clay. The Grubbing Hoe works great for digging out the grass and getting enough depth to easily set the stones and plant the cover. Because of the mass and sharp edge, it does not take a lot of heavy lifting to get the results needed. The key is to wet the ground thoroughly if you have some compacted or heavy rooted grass and then just take small sections at a time, usually a couple of inches. Patience while taking your time and the job will be done very quickly and efficiently.

Great experience ordering from EasyDigging.com, and the tool I received (grub hoe) appears to be sturdy and well made. I appreciate that the blade came quite sharp. However, I was a bit disappointed to find that the handle was varnished rather than oiled. It took half an hour or so so sand off the varnish and rub the handle down with boiled linseed oil, but it looks and feels great now. This should be a tool to last a lifetime.
