Very high quality tools. I have been digging a 5x30 bed that used to be part of a gravel parking lot with hard pan red clay underneath and this thing has exceeded my expectations of durability.

Two years I started to convert 1/2 acre of my property to a meadow. We brush hogged the land and had 17 native trees planted. This year I am planting a dozen shrubs along with some sedge, blacked eyed susans and coneflowers. I am using the grub hoe to direct some runoff and the broad fork to turn the solid for planting. So far all is going well. The tools are fantastic.

The broadfork is exceptionally durable. I find it a good workout and doing a great job at aerating my clay soil. I am confident it will outlast me and be put to good use by others years fro now.

David the Good with a Meadow Creature broadfork

I saw your tools on David the Good's Youtube videos and thought I would give them a try. Already had other hoes, some dating back to my great grandparents but think the pointed hoe will work good especially in harder ground and I like the long handle. Never had a broad fork but kind of always wanted one. Used it this past weekend to help my wife transplant some large fruit trees she had grown. It was thick sod and a shovel would not even penetrate. The broad fork easily penetrated and was able to loosen it right up. As we got deeper into the hole there were old bricks to our surprise and and was able to loosen them and pry them out, it is very tough. Looking forward to using in a garden that I till and am working on building the soil. Thanks for providing good quality American made tools.

We recently purchased a hillside home with rocky, heavy clay soil that has never been worked. After research, I chose the standard Meadow Creature Broadfork. It is one of the best purchases I've ever made and well-worth the money. I am a female in my mid-sixties and was amazed at how easy it was to break up and aerate a large area. My soil is so hard that I could only drive the broadfork in a few inches by standing, bouncing and rocking, but I was able to break up the soil quickly and easily by stepping back off the broadfork and using my arms to rock the handles back and forth. With every rocking movement, which was easy to do, the tines would sink deeper into the ground. No pain or soreness even after working a 400 sq. ft. area. I highly recommend!

I have heavy compacted soil and this tool gets the job done! I was very surprised at the ease in which this tool sinks into the ground. I originally thought I would never get this to penetrate my soil because it is so compacted but it proved me wrong. I chose the tall version with the 14 inch tines and I wasn't disappointed. With the design of these tines and a little rocking I could sink the tines all the way to the bar. I would recommend this tool for anyone who wants to break up their soil!

This tool is awesome!! Stand it up, step on it, pull it back. Couldn't be simpler for such long term soil improvements. Highly recommend this tool to anyone whose hard pan is close to surface.

I accidently placed 2 items in my cart and made the purchase then realized that the item was actually less on Amazon. I called the number listed and the owner picked up. A few minutes later he had removed the extra item and adjusted the price. It took a few days longer to receive than Amazon but supporting small business is worth that wait, especially with the great customer service. The Garden Creature Broadfork I purchased is incredible. It works great and appears to be built to last a lifetime. I'd purchase from Easy Digging again for sure.

Size comparison of Meadow Creature broadforks

Heard about EasyDigging from David the Good gardening books, so I researched and liked what I read. QUALITY TOOLS, will leave these to our children, made in the USA. I store all 4 tools in the house so they won't be stolen. Could hardly wait for the linseed oil to dry so I could use my 4 tools. Wish I had the MeadowCreature decades ago, would've saved me lots of effort, have been using a shovel & pick; wish I would've chosen the 14" instead of the 12" since I weigh >150# and am 5'7", just 1 inch short of the recommended 5'8" height for the 14" one; is hard to find a place for the box, in case it needs to be returned. Am VERY HAPPY with & grateful for this tool and EasyDigging. The 3 hoes are excellent, they are heavier than the cheapy ones I've been using for decades so am building more muscles; sharpened, they get the job done quickly. Am VERY HAPPY with these hoes.

The tool is definitely sturdy and built for a long life of use. I purchased the 12" model as I didn't want the extra weight of the 14". The tool worked well to break up the soil down deeper in my roughly 27'x30' garden prior to rototilling. The only thing I would change is to have an option of longer handles for the 12" model. At my 5' 7" height the handles were would have been better with an extra few inches for which I would have gladly paid a few extra $$. PS - It's also an excellent tool for putting teenage boys to work!! ;-)

I have ordered several hoes, a broadfork, and a wheel hoe from EasyDigging.com, and without exception all of them are excellent tools. I fully expect to hand these down to my children and grandchildren. They do a great job with garden prep, and my plants have never been happier. I would order again without hesitation.

Absolutely love my new broadfork! We have a lot of new ground to break and it has made turning sod drastically easier. It's still a tough job, but I can get 3 rows done in the time it would take me to do one with a Grub how or shovel. Great tool and so well-made!!!

From all of the research I've done over the course of a month previous to purchasing this company's broadfork, I have to say that this company's product is without a doubt the best one on the market. It's durable, well made and well designed. If you're looking for a tool to manually loosen the soil in your garden then this is the one. And best of all it's made in the USA. Thanks easydigging.com for making such great well-made products.

Ive used this 3 times so far. From heavy clay field areas, previously tilled and shale areas....very well made. of course the tilled areas were a breeze but really liked how deep it would go beyond the tilled depth..it did well in the clay areas with a couple passes and the loose shale areas were just a pain to sink the tines, but once in it lift right up....still looks new....very sturdy

I bought the large size meadow creature broadfork. I live in a desert area with lots of clay soil. Using the broadfork here is hard work but it WORKS. I'm a big guy (260 lbs) and the soil is rought but this thing shows virtually no signs of wear after putting in my garden. My younger brother is a little more than half my weight but he is able to use it too. After awhile you develop a rhythm. We found that it's important to keep the handles forward (about 20 degrees) when you first drop it in, so that the points on the tines are pointing more or less straight down. Watching videos of people back east quickly and happily popping chunks of dirt out of the ground with their broadforks can be depressing but the bottom line is this thing works better than any tiller I can see and it is satisfying. Sure tillers are "easier" but I shudder to think how many times I would have to go over the same patch to get the depth I get with the broadfork. We are approaching commercial tractor plow depth. Also it works no matter the price of gas or if you forget to pay your electric bill.

Broad fork aerating a long garden bed

I got my first ever broadfork. It came quickly and well packaged. I have used it some already and I can already see how useful it will be. I garden no till for the last 10 years so I am glad to have a tool that will gently open up the soil some without doing much damage to the soil micro biome.

I obtained two garden plots in an established association for recreational gardening. So, I inherited my plots from a previous gardener. I noticed in the first growing season that the soil did not drain well. It became hard packed. So, I went online line and learned how to use long-tine cultivator to break up the hard pack and aerate the soil. I am also adding organic material (leaves, straw, etc...) to enrich the soil, improve drainage and promote the growth of worms, insects and microbes. I purchased the unbreakable broadfork (tall) for deep cultivation. It works great!!! My plot is 100 x 50 feet. I have cultivated about half. While cultivating this was is work, I like the end result much better than using a tiller (which I believe greatly contributed to my earlier problem). It also attracts a lot of attention from fellow gardeners who often tell me that "I need to get a tiller". Just SMH. But hey, I really like this broadfork. It has a lot of uses. For example, I used it to loosen the soil around a steel post for removal. Worked like a charm.

It is apparent that high quality material is used in the manufacturing of these tools. I have used the 8" Grape hoe heavily to move quite a bit of compacted clay while trenching and I am fairly strong man 30 years of age. The large broad fork also has a very strong construction...all welded joints...not a fastener in sight. Very satisfied with the quality

It does exactly what I had hoped. Aerates soil well. Makes for easier digging and easier planting. Negates the need for tilling. The Meadow Creature is a simple and durable tool that does everything it says it will and probably a few more things. Definitely recommend. EasyDigging.com itself was a good experience as well. Easy to use website, feedback was quick and helpful, product shipped immediately and I had it within about a week. No complaints at all. I'll be heading back to EasyDigging for more tools before long. Glad the folks at Permies recommended them!

Great online shopping experience. And the Meadow Creature broadfork is our new favorite "yardening" tool. It makes short work of all kinds of roots. First saw the Meadow Creature on a social media post and was delighted to find it for sale by EasyDigging. We were previously digging primarily by shovel and pickax, but the Meadow Creature broadfork is a big improvement. Much easier on the back and legs. Thanks!

I had often been told to spend the extra to get a quality tool so it will last and with our hard clay/caliche soils I knew the cheaper versions wouldn't last based on their reviews but would this one? I can assure you, this broadfork is a beast. It's very well made and performs in compacted clay soils. Because of the clay, we still have to soften the dirt by wetting it down and letting it soak in but once that step is done, this fork performs very well. It's solid and does not show any weakness when loosening compacted soil. It performs so well, we're considering buying a second one so two of us can work at the same time. I am a woman gardener and this tool has made my life so much easier. I don't know how I've gotten along without it. If you're unsure because you have some difficult dirt to deal with, get this one, you won't be disappointed.

I purchased a broadfork, a garden fork, a grub hoe and a fork hoe. I have used everything but the grub hoe so far. I have rocky soil with clay. By rocky I mean anything from 1 inch to 8 inch rock. By clay I mean hard pan clay at about 4 to 8 inches down. I have dug before using a pick and a digging bar; it is terrible. I started using the broadfork, fork hoe, and garden fork instead of digging bar and shovel. I am amazed at how well these tools work. It is easier to use my broadfork than my Troy Built. The Tory Built is getting sold. I cannot recommend the tools or Easy Digging more favorably. Thank you Easy Digging!!

Have tilled in the past. Weed by hoeing and mulching. Read that tilling could damage the soil. Read that broadforks were a good addition or alternative. Compared different brands on the Internet. EasyDigging's Tall Meadow Creature Broadfork looked to be the best in construction and warranty. Still winter here. Only have tried it on part of the garden but it performs as advertised. Will still shallow till but use the broadfork for getting deeper. Would recommend it and buy it again. Did not see the longer Farmer's broadfork on the website or I would have bought that instead.

Love my super big digger. It is very strong and I am able to dig rocks out of my garden with it. Compared to the pitchfork that I was using, it's amazing! It came fairly quickly and the packing was excellent.
