How to find the handle diameter by measuring with calipers:

* Handles are only for round socket tools - not oval or rectangular sockets.
** For tools with flared handles, remove the handle and measure only the socket.
*** If your socket measures larger than our handles, then they will not work for you.

For EasyDigging brand handles:
Measure the diameter of the shaft a bit away from slit.

For ROUND socket tools:
Measure the diameter of the small end of the socket.

For wing or ear socket tools:
Measure the diameter between the socket's wings or ears.

We sell handles with the following diameters: 1.370 , 1.390 , 1.410 , 1.430, and 1.450 inches.
If your measured diameter is between two sizes, choose the smaller handle. For example, if you measure 1.400 then choose a 1.390 handle.

How to find the handle diameter by measuring with a ruler and tape:

* This method ONLY for straight shafted handles - those that are the same diameter all along the length, like dowels.

1. Wrap two layers of masking tape straight around the handle.

2. Cut straight across the tape. Peel the tape all off in one piece.

3. Measure the length. Starting at the 1" mark gives best accuracy.

measuring the handle circumference

Use this list to convert your length to diameter...
4-3/8" is 1.370 diameter
4-7/16" is 1.390 diameter
4-1/2" is 1.410 diameter
4-9/16" is 1.430 diameter
4-5/8" is 1.450 diameter

Remember that if you start at 1" on the ruler, all the measurements will read 1" higher. For example, a 4-3/8" piece will read as 5-3/8"

If your length measures between two marks, choose the smaller measurement. For example, if you measure between 4-1/2" and 4-9/16" then choose 4-1/2" for a 1.410 handle.

Customer Testimonials

I ordered one each of the tools you carry. They met or exceeded my expectations. I have many garden tools, so I have something to compare them to. The 8" grape hoe cuts my soil like it was butter. It is rare to have grub hoes come with such nice edges. I found the Chillington fork hoe was particularly good in dealing with spreading weeds like quack grass.

Best service I have had in a few years. Materials better than I could get locally, and merchant added to and improved on instructions from manufacturer. Merchant was willing to ship to customers preferred method and pleasant to converse with!
