Assembly Instructions for long handled tools with wedges

Our long hardwood handle tools feature an exclusive locking wedge that securely connects the handle to the
tool head. Grub hoes, grape hoes, and other forged hoes that use round eyes to attach the handle to the
head are considered eye hoes. The eye is tapered in a way that tightly mates with the handle when the metal
wedge is driven into the handle slot.

If you have ever been disappointed by the loose and sloppy fit of other eye hoe brands because the tapered handle
does not fit well into the eye socket, then you will love our long handled tools that fit securely, safely, and tightly.

Hoe Assembly and Care Instructions
1.
Place tool on the ground with the end of the
handle against a building or tree.

Insert the handle until the circle marked on the
handle is visible and the slot is aligned as
shown in the picture.  VERY IMPORTANT
2.
Hammer the wedge in about 1/2 of the way.

Check and adjust the handle position to keep the
slot and circle aligned as described in Step 1

NOTE:  The TWO PRONG HOE uses a
smaller metal wedge marked “F”
3.
Hold the top of the handle and pound the
wedged end straight up and down against a
concrete surface a few times until the wedge
is mostly inside the handle
4.
Your tool is now ready to use!

*It is normal for the end of the wedge to stick
out a bit and for the metal head to slide a
little over the marked circle.
See the Garden Tool Care Instructions for information
on
blade sharpening and wood handle care.

Inspect the wedge occasionally during use and re-tighten it whenever
the head feels loose (a little wiggle is normal).

Re-tighten the wedge by firmly tapping the wedged end of the tool
against a concrete surface as in Step 3.
WARNING – SHARP TOOL - Use extreme caution to protect eyes, hands, and feet of user and bystanders.
Keep away from children. Always wear safety glasses. Any striking tool may chip if struck against another
hard surface, resulting in damage to the tool and possible serious bodily injury.
