Purchased the HOSS seeder to plant beans and corn, the product worked flawlessly, perfect spacing and depth. So impressed with the product, I just purchased a wheel hoe and attachments. These tools make life easy.
I bought the Hoss garden seeder with row marker and extra discs. It makes planting so much easier, just install proper disc for the seed you are planting, fill the hopper, set the depth, and go. I haven't had any problems yet, planted corn, beets, lettuce, and snow peas. This really saves my back, no more stooping over to plant the seeds and covering the row, the seeder does it all while you stand up and just roll the seeder. I researched seeders before ordering the Hoss, it had the best reviews for the money. Definitely recommend this product.
Really well built. It is hard to find this kind of quality anymore.

Row Marker attachment
The Row Marker for this model can be adjusted for row spacings of 10" to 36" wide. It quickly moves from the right side to the left so you can keep planting one row after another, like when planting like sweet corn or other multi-row crops.

Shows the loose fluffy soil this seeder can handle. In this video they are planting a long bed of salad greens. This tilled soil is very loose and soft. Notice how deep his footprints are, and how the fine soil moves.
Optional Seed Plates
Six seed plates for the most common garden crops are included with this seeder. They are listed as plates 1 through 6 below.
There are optional plates 7 to 10, and blank plates in three thicknesses, which are also described below.
Plates 1 through 6 are included with the Hoss Garden Seeder.
- #1 – broccoli, cabbage, turnips, mustard and other fine seeds (8 holes, 3/32″ thick)
- #2 – onion, similar small seeds (6 holes, 3/32” thick)
- #3 – okra, and {pelleted* carrots, lettuce, chard and beets} (6 holes, 3/16” thick)
- #4 – small sweet corn, popcorn (4 holes, 3/16” thick)
- #5 – small peas and beans (6 holes, 1/4” thick)
- #6 – medium beans, peas, large sweet corn, field corn (4 holes, 1/4” thick)
Plates 7 through 10 are optional plates. They can be purchased individually or as a set at the Seed Plate page.
- #7 – radish, leek, asparagus, spinach (6 holes, 3/32” thick)
- #8 – cucumber, watermelon (2 holes, 3/32” thick)
- #9 – butterbeans, lima beans (2 holes, 3/16” thick)
- #10 – squash, pumpkin (1 hole, 3/16” thick)

*Note: These 4 seeds are pelleted to allow them to work in walk-behind seeders. Raw (non-pelleted) seeds for these 4 crops do not work well in ANY seeder.
This seed planter uses flat round seed plates that are 3/32", 3/16" or 1/4" thick for small, medium, and large seeds. Holes are drilled through these plates to create seed spacings ranging from 1-1/4" up to 19". The seed plate makes one revolution for every 19" of ground travel - so plate with 1 hole gives 19" spacing, 2 holes give 9.5" spacing, 3 holes give 6.3" spacing, etc.

Additional Details:
Some of the other highlights of this seeder design include the coulters, or disc opener, that it uses to create a furrow for the seeds. Check out the picture in the image gallery above.
This rotating disc mechanism pushes the soil down and apart, while seeds fall down through the steel tube that passes down between the back of the pair of discs. Its advantage over a shoe or plow style furrow opener is that it does not hook and drag along stringy decaying plant matter from the soil.
The depth of the furrow is controlled by turning a large knob located between the front wheel and the seed hopper.
There is also a kickstand on this model that keeps it standing upright while you are not using it.
